Director and Civil Manager – Rod Esam
Rods civil expertise, practical application to work and professional approach aims to always provide the highest standard of product and service to his clients. His personable manner and can do attitude is an encouragement to his clients, employees and students.
Born in Broken Hill in 1965, Rod was raised between Adelaide and the Corner country of NSW, SA and QLD. Rod started in the civil industry in Adelaide as a trainee drainer when he was 16 and has been working extensively in the industry since then.
Rod was self-employed for 15 years as a machinery operator and pipe laying contractor on the mid north coast of NSW. Working for private enterprise and local Government, Rod’s civil works experience includes:
Sub division development including clearing and grubbing, building site preparation, building of roads, pump stations, water, stormwater and sewerage reticulation. Many of these works on the coast became specialist jobs taking into consideration the sensitive environmental aspects of urban development in natural bushlands with acid sulphate soils and water charged ground. Other works include HWY drainage, major pipeline construction, bulk excavations, irrigation and dam building.
In 2000 Rod and Eve Developed the R&D Australiana Show performing at several locations during and at the Sydney Olympics. www.rodesam.com The R&D Australiana Show, accredited by the NSW and QLD Education systems, performed nationally at special events and festivals throughout Centenary of Federation and Year of the Outback. After writing and recording their Album “Earthmover”, Rod, Eve and their 3 sons then toured Australia for 18 months promoting the album performing for 3 months in the Top End.
Realising the exciting growth Darwin was facing Rod and his family sold property and business in NSW. Buying and settling into Darwin in 2005, Rod took up civil management positions with local contractors and Eve in community health. Understanding the Northern Territory skill shortage and having a passion for increasing opportunities for indigenous training and employment, Rod and Eve in 2008 commenced CEO – Civil Earth Operations.
Since that time CEO have pro-actively worked towards winning civil works and incorporating indigenous workplace training programs to develop competent work skills and provide nationally accredited qualifications for real employment outcomes.
